Understanding Multiple-Meaning Words
1. The shepherd carried a staff as he went to the field each coming.

- In that sentence, there is a word "Office" and “contributed” give the reader the idea about people (staff) who want to contribute, so the meaning of the staff is people who work in the office
3. John's temper flares when his sports recond is mentioned
- In that sentence, there is the word " Flare" after "John's Temper" name, which means give the reader the idea that flare means high emotions. So the meaning of the flare is anger
4. The highway department used flares to help motorists travel through the long construction area.
- In that sentence, there is the word "to help" and "motorist travel" give the reader the idea about a flare is a tool for making roads so what is meant by a flare is a sign like fireworks to indicate that there is construction there.
